How about some forensic anthropology puzzlers by Kathy Reichs' for a Groundbreaking Read?

We hope you're enjoying your summer and participating in our Adult Summer Reading Program themed Groundbreaking Reads this year. Anything you read counts in our program, but we'd love to see you try some genre or subject matter that you've not checked out very much.

In doing some investigating of appropriately themed novels, it occurred to me that Kathy Reichs' Bones books are perfect fodder for our digging and delving program theme verbage. Right in line with digging into something, Dr. Reichs writes about her own profession of forensic anthropology as she brings her main character, Dr. Temperance Brennan, to life in her book and TV series. Dr. Brennan is involved in helping to figure out the mystery of bones left in varying places, states of deterioration and under unlikely scenarios. Why don't you check out 1 or 2 of them and see for yourself?

Here are the Bones titles in order of publication. We have all these books in either our Laurens or Clinton Libraries, sometimes in both and sometimes in multiple formats including large print text and audiobooks. Please ask us how we can assist you in locating the one you choose:

1.      Deja Dead - The first in the Tempe Brennan series. Published in 1997.

2.      Death du Jour - The second book in the Temperance Brennan series, this book was published in 1999

3.      Deadly Decisions - Her first book was published in 2000. 

4.   Fatal Voyage - This was her 4th book in the series, published in 2001.

5.      Grave Secrets - #5 in the Tempe Brennan series, this book was first published in 2002.

6.      Bare Bones - Her 6th in the Temperance Brennan series, published in 2003.

7.      Monday Mourning - #7 in the Temperance Brennan series was published in 2004.

8.      Cross Bones - #8 was published in 2005.

9.      Break No Bones - Her 9th Temperance Brennan book, was first published in 2006.

10.  Bones to Ashes - #10 in the Tempe Brennan series, this book was published in 2007.

11.  Devil Bones - This book was published in 2008, and it's her 11th book.

12.  206 Bones - This is her 12th book, published in 2009.

13.  Spider Bones - It was published in 2010 as her 13th novel involving Tempe Brennan

14.  Flash and Bones - Another novel about Temperance Brennan, it was published in 2011.

15.  Bones Are Forever - Her book #15 in the Tempe Brennan series, this was published August 2012.
